BetWest registration: each document and what it proves
An account opens with a short form; the documents come later, when the cashier or a withdrawal asks for them. Four kinds of document can be requested, and each proves something different:
- Valid identity document. It proves who you are and that you are over 18. It must be clearly legible and not expired.
- Proof of residence. It proves where you live. It must have been issued within the last 3 or 6 months, the period depending on the result of our account review.
- Proof of ownership of a payment method. It proves that the card, e-wallet or bank account is yours, because withdrawals are paid only to an account in your own name.
- Transaction history. Bank, e-wallet or card statements, usually covering the last 1 to 3 months, show that the money moving through the account is yours.
The list is not exhaustive. Depending on the account, we may ask for more, and the verification pop-up states what is needed.
The sign-up form field by field
Registration asks for five things, in this order:
- Your country and the account currency. Choose pounds sterling; the currency on offer depends on the jurisdiction, and it is set at this step.
- Your email address. Use one you read regularly, since the Finance Department writes to it about cancelled withdrawals.
- A password. Our help centre calls the secret on the login screen a PIN, and it is case-sensitive, so a stray capital letter will fail a login.
- A choice of welcome bonus, if the form shows the option.
- A confirmation that you accept the terms. BetWest accepts only customers over 18.
A person can hold one account only, and a second account opened by the same person is treated as a duplicate and closed. Registration is refused if the country is on the list of countries in the general terms, if an account already exists, or if the applicant is under 18. If you are unsure whether you registered before, ask live chat or write to [email protected] before opening another.
What is blocked until verification is finished
Deposits and withdrawals may be blocked until verification is complete, and a pop-up appears on the site when it is required. Once all requested documents have arrived in full, verification is typically completed within 24 to 48 hours. Cases that need further checks take longer, and we contact you promptly when that happens.
After uploading there is no need to write to support. If a document cannot be produced, tell support which one and why, and we will assess the case and say what alternatives exist. A bank statement older than the permitted period cannot stand in for proof of residence on its own, since the issue date is checked.
Rejected documents: reason, sign and fix
Six reasons for rejection are published. Each tends to affect particular documents, so the fix depends on which reason was given.
| Reason for rejection | Documents it usually hits | What to check before re-uploading |
|---|---|---|
| Issued too long ago | Proof of residence (3 or 6 months, set by our account review) and statements (1 to 3 months) | The issue date on the page, against the window our pop-up asks for |
| Modified or not in original format | Identity document, payment ownership proof | That the file is the original and has not been cropped, edited or re-saved |
| Expired | Identity document | The expiry date; an expired document is not accepted even if legible |
| Poor image: blurry, flashed or filtered | Any photographed document | Whether every corner and the number are readable without a filter |
| Damaged or incomplete | Identity document, bank statements | That every page of the statement and both sides of the document are included |
| Scanned or screenshot copy | Online statements | Whether the document is the original download and not a screenshot |
Verification is typically completed within 24 to 48 hours once everything is in, so a complete re-upload starts a new wait of that length. If a document is refused a second time, do not upload it unchanged: write to live chat with the document type and the reason shown, and the team will say what is needed.
From the form to the first deposit
A welcome offer is available to newly registered players after the first deposit. After a qualifying deposit a notification says that a bonus has been claimed, and you press Activate. If you miss it, the bonus can be activated from the profile. If it does not appear after the deposit, contact support before you begin to play so that it can be credited manually. Deposits normally arrive almost at once; allow up to two hours before you write in.
When you write in, include the payment method, the date and amount, any error message, whether the money left your account and a screenshot from your payment provider showing your name, the account number and the transaction details.
What the first withdrawal waits for
The first request meets three checks in sequence: verification must be complete, any wagering requirement on a deposit or bonus must be finished, and the amount must sit in the cash balance, not the bonus balance. The request is then processed within three business days, Monday to Friday, and the payout goes only to a payment method in your own name; a request to someone else’s account is cancelled and has to be made again. A pending request can be cancelled from the Withdrawal tab or from Balance History. If it is cancelled by us, an email from the Finance Department gives the reason, so check the spam folder before writing in.
Changing details after sign-up
From the profile you can change only your PIN. Any other change, such as a name or address, goes through support: write with the correct information and the reason for the change, and we will review the request. A forgotten password is recovered with the Forgot your password link on the login screen; a forgotten username or registered email needs support. To close or reopen an account, use live chat or email. An account can be closed on request, including for a break from gambling.
